Professor Andrew J. Hacker is the Cybersecurity Expert In Residence at Harrisburg University. He creates the vision and direction for the University in all aspects of Cybersecurity and is currently building a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence to further that mission.
In partnership with Harrisburg University, Mr. Hacker is also the Founder and CEO of an innovative startup named Create Different, LLC that is enabling the new data economy by creating a platform of intelligent data bringing the next generation of data interaction, security, privacy, analytics and business value to the Digital Universe.
Mr. Hacker is the former Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where for 6 years, he supported the Enterprise Information Security Office in managing information security, guiding State Agency CISOs and Executives, interacting with State and Federal partners, and protecting citizen data and government systems and operations. He played a major role in creating enterprise security strategies, standards and policies, enhancing overall application security, and was responsible for risk management and compliance across the commonwealth.
Prior to his appointment at the commonwealth, Mr. Hacker served as Global Security Practice Head for a global IT consulting firm where he built a practice organization spanning multiple geographies and fostered a highly skilled and influencial security Center of Excellence. Mr. Hacker has worked for large Information Technology thought-leaders and service providers such as VeriSign, Verizon Business, and AT&T and has a deep understanding of enterprise security technologies, architecture, policy and governance. He has authored editorials appearing in publications such as Network World, Information Week, and Help Net Security.
Mr. Hacker holds numerous industry certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP), Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO), and is a former Payment Card Industry Qualified Security Assessor (PCI QSA). He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University’s College of Engineering.
