As citizens around the globe manage the disruptions caused by the current pandemic, Harrisburg University is proud of the perseverance and resilience shown by our students, faculty, and staff.  In order to continue doing our part to protect the health and well-being of our campus community, and to provide graduating students and their families as much time as possible to adjust their plans, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 commencement.  We reached this conclusion after careful consideration of the advice provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Pennsylvania State Health Officials, and out of a commitment to the health of the Harrisburg University community.

No virtual gathering can possibly match the emotion and joy of our usual events, but we will come together online on Thursday, May 7, to award degrees so that everyone will graduate as expected.  The process of earning a college degree takes hard work and commitment and we believe our graduates and their families deserve recognition.  Once we know it is safe to bring people together again, we plan to host an in-person celebration.  By then, we will be eager not just to celebrate our graduating students, but also to recognize and acknowledge the sacrifices that so many have made to ensure the well-being of our community.  Please watch for updates as plans are finalized. We look forward to the day when the HU family can reconvene to celebrate the remarkable Class of 2020.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and your colleagues and your ongoing commitment to Harrisburg University.
