Graduate education programs moved online in response to coronavirus pandemic
Dear Harrisburg University Community,
As noted in an earlier notice, the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has been monitored by HU since it first emerged. We are all aware that the situation with the pandemic changes daily, if not hourly. This message provides a significant update.
After careful consideration, and after weighing a variety of considerations, first and foremost the safety and health of the Harrisburg University community, we have decided to move all graduate education activities and programs to our online platforms in Canvas and AdobeConnect. This decision impacts sessions planned for this weekend and will continue into the foreseeable future.
While, there will not be face-to-face graduate sessions this weekend, some small number of international students will likely come to the Harrisburg Campus. A separate email will go to select staff and faculty concerning how best to support the students who do show up. If you normally support graduate executive weekends, please watch for additional emails.
I am asking everyone to remember that while we are moving our graduate education online, we must maintain our efforts to support our international students. We need to make sure that our international students feel fully supported and secure. We must remain student focused.
No decisions have yet been made regarding our undergraduate education. All undergraduate education will continue as planned and running.
In general, HU operations will continue to function normally.
Further, there are presently three working groups at HU specifically concerning the coronavirus that are monitoring the situation and advising leadership of HU’s potential responses: one is focused on employee and student health and safety, a second is focused on business continuity, and a third is focused on contingency plans (e.g., delivery of all programs online for an extended period of time).
Please continue to practice common sense and good practices to keep yourself and others healthy. We are a community!
Thank you – Eric Darr, Harrisburg University President
