HU to host Cybersecurity Awareness Summit

An ever-increasing number of organizations are targeted in cyber attacks.

And as the number of attacks multiply, so does the quantity and quality of information compromised by the breaches.

It takes new approaches, practices, and technologies to combat the attacks that become more sophisticated by the day. With this in mind, Harrisburg University’s Security Center of Excellence will hold its annual Cybersecurity Summit from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19.

The summit is held each year to educate leaders and cyber professionals about the dangers of cyber attacks and the best tools used to fight them.

All are welcome to attend the event, which will feature programs for leaders who are responsible for policy and administration, including the mitigation of cyber risks, within their organizations. Other presentations will be geared for IT professionals responsible for computer networks, software development or other disciplines that can directly affect the quality of a cyber protection program.

The event will take place on the 11th and 14th floors of Harrisburg University’s education tower at 326 Market Street in Harrisburg.

Speakers will include, Erik Avakian, Chief Information Security Officer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; Ron Plesko, Principal, KPMG; Julie Bernard, Principal, Deloitte; Tom Patterson, Vice President Global Security, Unisys, and more.
