Let’s Play PA Conference: Celebrating the craft of video game development in Pennsylvania
Join us at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology on October 2nd for a one-day conference on video game development. The free Let’s Play PA event will combine a conference and awards show celebrating the efforts of hundreds of PA talented student, developers and hobbyists.
Set for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the focus of Let’s Play PA is quite simple; we want to showcase the talent that Pennsylvania has to offer in terms of game developers and educational programs. We have a handful of well-known studios such as Schell Games in Pittsburgh and Cipher Prime in Philadelphia, but we have many more talented studios and individuals who deserve recognition. Similarly, we have well known educational institutions like Carnegie Mellon and Drexel University educating the next generation of game developers, but there are other institutions and programs doing equally important and influential work across the Commonwealth. Pennsylvania is a growing hub of talent, skill, and vision, and we would like to share that with the industry at large.
If you want to gain insights from professionals within various different facets of the game development community, then you’ll want to check out our panels that cover topics like:
Psychology of Game Design Storytelling Game Education
Post Mortems Crowdsource/Venture Funding Simulations
Virtual Reality Audio Bootcamp Socially Responsible Gaming
This is the crux of the conference’s existence, so you should definitely stop by and see who is doing what in Pennsylvania. From hands on demos to what colleges have to offer students and everything in between – come see how Pennsylvania is contributing to the industry in a big way.
We have some awesome speakers lined up coming from various different backgrounds within the industry to do our panels. All of them support our efforts and believe in the talent that is brewing in Pennsylvania, so come and share in their enthusiasm for this great industry.
Whether you’re a college student looking for your first full-time job or someone is looking to meet the right people for your next project, come mingle with people from inside and outside of Pennsylvania, all of whom share the same goal of wanting to make awesome interactive experiences.
- Up and Coming Spotlight
In addition to our Expo, we’ll be highlighting some studios that have been making great progress on their projects or are on the cusp of releasing their next game.

The Pennsylvania Consortium on Video Games was created as part of Governor Corbett’s JOBS1st PA initiative with funding from a Discovered in PA – Developed in PA grant. The mission of the organization is to build a community of higher education partners and interactive development firms to focus on the cultural, scientific, and economic importance of video game development, as well as, digital media across the state.
Our Mission is to expand Pennsylvania’s video game industry presence by growing the pool of talented individuals and organizations, supporting entrepreneurship, and enabling business expansion and relocation within the Commonwealth. The key to this endeavor is building a robust network of educators, business owners, independent contractors, and state representatives to help nurture, incubate, and empower the gaming community.
This program is funded [in part] by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Discovered in PA, Developed in PA program.
