The Information Systems Engineering and Management (ISEM) department of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is accepting applications for a limited number of students in the Ph.D. program for Fall 2021 admission.

The program is seeking applicants that can add to the diverse backgrounds and research interests of its current students.  The Ph.D. program in ISEM was created to produce innovative and creative problem solvers and researchers for academic, corporate, government, and non-profit organizations.  The next application deadline for consideration is March 5, 2021.

Ideal applicants should have a Master’s degree in Information Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field of study with prior coursework or a strong background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Systems analysis and design or systems engineering
  • Enterprise architecture and systems integration
  • Technology leadership or management
  • Technology platforms

The ISEM Ph.D. program is particularly interested in students who wish to pursue research in one of the following areas:

  • Smart/Cognitive cities
  • Cyber-physical systems
  • The Physical Internet
  • Computing platforms
  • Systems science
  • Knowledge engineering/artificial intelligence
  • Industry intelligence

Students can apply by going to https://harrisburgu.edu/Apply and should be prepared to submit a packet consisting of the following:

  • Master’s transcript(s) – 3.3/4.0 minimum GPA
  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one corporate)
  • Statement of purpose
  • Résumé
  • GRE scores (65th percentile Quantitative score minimum)
  • Evidence of research capability (e.g., Master’s Thesis, conference publication, published journal article, well-written project report/proposal)
