Science Game Center showcases HU poverty awareness game amid COVID-19 pandemic

April is Financial Literacy Month.

And to raise financial literacy awareness and show how COVID-19 is affecting the financial well-being of so many people, the Science Game Center is showcasing  ALICE the Experience, a game Harrisburg University professors designed to raise poverty awareness.

HU partnered with the United Way of Pennsylvania to create ALICE, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained Employed people and families. The game gives players  insight into the daily life of someone who is at or above the poverty line but still has trouble paying for basic living expenses.

Harrisburg University invites you to play through the experience and then share your thoughts with others.  Was the experience realistic? What was missing? How do you think COVID-19 would affect the households in ALICE the Experience?

The is a website maintained by HU assistant professor, Dr. Melanie Stegman.
