SciTech High School Counselor Receives Award from Harrisburg University
Harrisburg University of Science and Technology honored Dr. Stacey Rossi of the Harrisburg School District with its 2016 Counselor Appreciation Award.
The award is the highest honor the University bestows annually to a high school counselor. Dr. Rossi was one of eight counselors from Pennsylvania and Maryland recognized at the event, held February 5th at the University as part of National School Counselor Week.
Harrisburg University president, Dr. Eric Darr, noted that school counselors are educators, as essential to children’s schooling as teachers. “You help develop curriculum, map the academic routes that students follow, and guide them toward fulfillment of their talents and dreams. In our 10th anniversary year, we at Harrisburg University are pleased to share the credit for our accomplishments with the educators who helped our students arrive and thrive here. “
Since Harrisburg University opened its doors, Dr. Stacey Rossi of SciTech High in Harrisburg School District has worked with high school students who later enrolled at the University.
“She recommended many of our first students to us and continues to do so. They have gone on to do great things in this university and later in life,” says Dr Darr. “This annual award is our way of saying that school counselors are vital to our mission and we are grateful for all they do for high school students.”
