Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is a private, non-profit institution of higher education located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with an additional location in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Education granted University status to Harrisburg University in 2005. Harrisburg University became the first comprehensive, non-profit university founded in Pennsylvania in over 100 years. The Middle States Commission of Higher Education accredited Harrisburg University in 2009 with Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs with fully approved distance education programs. In addition, the Master of Science in Project Management is now accredited by the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC).
The certificate program with Harrisburg University can be taken in a full-time, part-time with two options for delivery: all online or Executive (Hybrid- both online and in class format). The Graduate Certificate Program emphasizes experiential learning so that graduates obtain a concrete grasp of real-world project management issues. In addition, the courses taken prepare the student for the Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org which is one of the most in-demand professional certifications in the field.
The Agile Lean Certificate will provide students with a thorough understanding and application of Agile Lean frameworks used in the project management, software and IT product development domains. Such frameworks include Scrum, Lean, Kanban, Extreme Programming (XP), and others. These Agile frameworks can be applied to application development and business process improvement.
Agile Lean Frameworks have made significant impacts in organizations that are implementing these principles. The satisfaction index for using these frameworks has reached high levels of around 80%. These frameworks are used in delivering improved business processes for Product Development, Software Development, Manufacturing, Business Process Improvement and Value Centered Project/Portfolio Management. A student that graduates with a certificate in Agile Lean will have a definite edge over those students that are trained in just the more traditional aspects of Project Management.
Starting with the Agile Project Management with Scrum core course, the certificate then expands to include applying Scrum to projects, conducting new product development with Agile Lean, and then concluding with leading Agile Lean transformations in organizations.
The certificate consists of four required 3 credit hour courses:
